2018 WINTER COAT GUIDE

As we are now in the middle of winter, preparing for Christmas and getting snuggly by the fire in the evenings, the only thing on our minds when going out the door is how to stay warm. We all know the struggles of putting on 27 layers of clothing in preparation of the cold, to only find yourself sweating profusely on the way to work. Or perhaps you’re the type to underestimate the temperature and head out with a thin jacket, only to come back home with frost bite. Scrolling through Instagram is all well and good for a little bit of winter inspo, except when it comes to buying a coat. With so many to choose from, and at a heftier price tag than summer clothing, it can be overwhelming to choose something that is going to be both practical and in a style you’re going to wear all winter. For most of us, buying 12 different styles of coats every year just isn’t feasible, so don’t be fooled by what you see on social media. We know the importance of investment when it comes to fashion, so we’ve picked out our fave coats this season, and at a price tag that’s easier to swallow…

Textured Trench

TOPSHOP £79

The fiercest style and colour, bound to get you noticed walking down the street. We’re obsessed with the croc texture and the fiery red, perfectly paired with a leather skirt, boots and statement earrings for the ultimate night out outfit.

Animal Print

Zara £79.99

Animal print is everywhere this season, so we love this zebra print coat from Zara. You can easily dress this up or down with a bright dress or straight legged jeans and trainers.

Puffer

Urban Outfitters £76

If you’re one to be cold AF all the time, a puffer jacket is for you. Especially this one from Urban Outfitters. Thick enough to feel like you never left your duvet, but the orange lining gives it a street style vibe.

Patterned fur

Monki £75

We love a classic fur coat, but a patterned one gives extra fashion points, especially when its a cute animal print. Opportunities to play it safe with block colours underneath or, if you’re feeling adventurous with your style, mix and match patterns.

Brights

 COS £190

Although this option is on the more expensive side, the quality is worth it. The bright colour is on trend and adds a bit of oomph to any outfit. If you’re the type to go to cocktail parties and expensive dinner dates around Christmas time, then this one if for you.

Patterned Puffer

 Mango £89.99

Mixing checks and puffers, whats not to love? Added bonus that it has a hood, so no worries when you forget your umbrella (which is all the damn time). The neutral tones are chic yet the padded jacket gives it a street style, cool edge. Layer with chunky gold jewellery and natural makeup.

Leather

Nasty Gal £70

Loving the vintage style of this blazer jacket in tanned leather. Also at an amazing price considering how expensive it looks. Although leather isn’t the warmest option for rain/snow, this could be saved for those bright, crisp mornings and paired with chunky knits.

Teddy Jacket

Missguided £65

This jacket was EVERYWHERE last winter, and still is this season. A casual option for those of you that like a coat to throw on when in a rush. This style comes in varying lengths and colours, but we love the cropped red for a something different than plain black. Also, red reminds us of Christmas, and who doesn’t love that?

The Smart Style

H&M £49.99

Another tailored/smart option for the party season. Who could say no to a high quality, smart coat that would literally go with everything, at only £50? We love how H&M styled this with straight jeans, loafers and a white shirt. Add some statement jewellery, switch up the shoes and add a deep red lip to take this look from day to night.
